Based on its construction, the Softpoint-Flat-Nose bullet is a compromise between the Full Metal Jacketed-Flathead bullet and the Hollow Point bullet.

For decades, bullets with a wad-cutter profile have demonstrated their performance potential in international competitions. The shoulderstabilized attitude in flight means that excellent precision can be achieved at low velocities, a characteristic that, even today, makes it the ideal choice for shooters on 25 meters and the PPC 1500 disciplines at distances up to 50 meters.

The traditional Lead Round-Nose bullet can upset extremely well to fit the rifling, even at comparatively low velocities, and lower friction also preserves the barrel.
A round-nose profile is also better for magazine feeding in pistols and makes reloading easier in revolvers.
